Governor Okpebholo inspects 36 KM road project in Edo Central

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has visited the ongoing 36-kilometre Utako-Unewa-Eworah-Uromi road project and assured the people that the work will be of high quality.

Accompanied by top government officials, the Governor received warm praise and prayers from local residents, who expressed their gratitude for the attention their communities are finally receiving from the government.

Governor Okpebholo also toured Anko road and Udomi Primary School, which are under development.

He stated that his administration is focused on “practical governance,” meaning that they are delivering real projects that will directly benefit the people.

“You can see the joy on the faces of the people. We are happy that the people we are serving are happy and appreciate what we do for them and we will do more to develop the area and the State. We have embarked on practical governance, doing what the people will see and benefit from. We will continue practical governance. The road we are constructing here is about 36 kilometres. When this road is completed, the area will be open for economic development and growth. We want the people to feel the impact of true governance,” the Governor said.

Larha Fanel, a resident from Benue State, thanked the Governor for the road project, stating that the previous administration had neglected the community.

Madam Alice Ojeifoh, a local resident, also expressed her joy, saying, “The people of Udomi, Unewa, and other communities are happy, as the road will open up the area for economic growth and development. The road was abandoned for years, but the Okpebholo administration remembered us.”

The contractor, Michael Rezk, explained that the road will link eight communities, enhancing their prospects for development. Work has already begun on the concrete drains, with the project expected to take two years to complete.

“The road is 36 kilometres, starting from the federal road in Uromi. We’ve already started with the concrete drains to manage water, and soon we will move on to laying stone base and asphalt. This road will connect eight communities, and we expect to finish the project in two years,” he said.
